When I got to the end of the simulator scene, I shouted out loud, “You Ender Gamed me, Hugh!”

Yeah, I bought it. I thought Cole was dead.

I am quite upset that you tricked me that bad. As Lisa said, I really believed Cole was dead. And it was all just a flight simulator. I throughly enjoyed each part of the simulation, because I thought it was real. That Molly is a quick thinker. You had me at the edge of my seat when she was going for the final…I guess blow when trying to avoid getting hit. I was quite pleased that she did so well, but I think that it's total BS they expelled her without asking why she did not shoot not once.

Still reading, I hope to get it done this week. But I wanted to pop in and tell you how it was going for me and my reading experience.

Beginning the story with the opposite twist of Card was my little nod to the greatest book of my childhood.

It was tricky writing those scenes so they could be seen either way. The entire time I'm describing the action, what Molly's feeling, and how Cole would have “died,” I had to keep in mind that none of it was “real.” Even though each training exercise had very real consequences for the kids.

I like the “the people that scored these things would get a kick out of this one” line. Even after real battles, the military sits down and grades life and death, trying to get better for the next time.

Anyway, I'm glad you guys fell for it.

It tortures me that her classmates never got to see her battle moves for what they are.  Is there any chance that in the future, some of those folks will get to reflect on that simulator experience and see what a bad ass she was?  It would be so vindicating!  Unfairness just tortures me!!

I dunno, I think some of them ending up dead at her hand is pretty vindicating…

Some of her classmates are going to see it in real life…
