Amazon’s Kindle Worlds Program is Live!

The Silo Saga is now open for exploration! You can write WOOL fan fiction and upload it for review. And get this: I found out today that a WOOL story was the first through the gates and first accepted! I feel so lucky and honored to have been invited into this program, and even luckier to have talented writers out there who care to explore these worlds. The fact that some of them are now making history is just too cool for words.

If you want to read an incredible write-up on how all of this got started, you should check this out. It’s an amazing read on the LOOW group of fan fiction writers. Really amazing stuff going on right now in the world of publishing. So fortunate to be a part of it all.

  1. I just have to say how cool I think it is that you’re willing to let others benefit from your ideas and experiences. I know many authors dislike fan-fiction. But really I think it would be quite flattering as an author to see that someone loves your story so much that the world becomes absolutely real to them. You’re helping a whole other generation of writers get their chance to find their voice. Way to go Hugh :)

  2. Damn! No “pornography”?!?!?!

What the hell does that mean? Hugh, are you (or Amber) the arbitrator of that?

I was just outlining book one of the “Silo Key Club” saga.

Please tell me I can write it with your blessing. I’ll share royalties with you (but NOT research!)

  3. I have not, as yet, read any fan fiction. I am waiting for DUST. Don’t want to get anything mixed up with the original series.

Have an idea for a book. A fan fiction author writes a story before the last book in the original series is complete, the story has the same ending as the original series, can the fan fiction author sue? Yes we are living in a weird world created by Hugh Howey.

I have two words, “F’ing sweet.” Thanks for sharing.

  5. Hello Hugh,
I like this idea, but I can see that silo stories books are becoming a lot, is there any place to see them all together? it would be great to see a list of them in the Silo Saga page

  6. Thank you so much for opening your world up to your fans for exploration!

  8. I fell in love with Hugh’s writing and when possible, I will buy ALL of his works. Right now (and forever,LOL) I’m disabled and low income so, understandably it will take a while.

Best of luck to you Hugh,

  9. […] Plus, I found another editor, Brandie, who will be editing the silo series. She is a huge fan of Hugh Howey, so I think it might be the perfect match. The first part of the silo story is slated to come in […]

  10. Hugh, have you ever looked into how many people have made money in Kindle Worlds? Searching on the internet seems to suggest it a bust, but do you have numbers on how many Wool fan fics have sold? Just curious. It isn’t just about the money, you are also lending us your fans, but if your fans don’t read fan fic…well. Thanks
